Quality Technician

Your role:

As a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for accurate performance and communication of all laboratory tests to determine wheat/flour quality.  You will maintain calibration of equipment and within one year will be expected to perform required testing in all three lab areas (bake, mill, analytical). Your responsibilities:

  • Perform wheat/flour quality analysis in all areas within required parameters of certification program.
  • Provide back up to lab supervisors in their absence.
  • Communicate results to customers using appropriate computer software (Excel, Condor, etc.).
  • Calibrate and maintain accuracy of equipment.
  • Assist Associates/ Quality Manager with projects or peer training as needed.
  • Maintain food safety understanding by participating in all site wide food safety training. Responsible to elevate food safety concerns to the appropriate level; authorized to stop production or shipments due to food safety risks.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

 Essential skills and experience:

  • College degree (BS or BA) in science field.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated good lab technique.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient use of computer programs including MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills in English (both written and verbal).

Good to have skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of food safety requirements: PRP’s and HACCP
  • Minimum 3 yrs. experience in technical/ baking science and/or degree in science discipline.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Medium exertion – exerting up to 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-25lbs of force frequently.
  • Able to work in heights.
  • Must be able to work in hot, cold environments, and dusty environments.

Other considerations:

  • Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
  • Willing and able to work on rotating shifts, however the primary shift for this role will be 2nd shift.
