The Utility worker performs sanitation and provides operational support in the Mill.
1st shift: 7am-3:30pm
Principal Responsibilities:
- Assist Mill crew with mill start up.
- Assist mill crew with operation problems, chokes, etc. Pick up piles and feed in before end of shift.
- Assist with mill repairs as required. Any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
- Maintain sanitation in assigned areas by cleaning and by fixing leaks. Areas may include floors, equipment, roofs, over-head areas, and outside grounds.
- Specialized cleaning tasks such as bin cleaning, working sifters, filter sock changes.
- Maintain and promote high expectations for safety performance and sanitation efforts.
- Complete assigned daily and weekly Sanitation duties.
- Willingness to cross-train in other positions as needed.
- Document and maintain all required records to ensure completion of daily operational documentation including IPM Work Orders, MSS sheets, etc.
- Learn and understand all GMP’s CCP’s and HACCP.
- Willingness to train on fork truck and front loader as needed.
- Communicate in a timely manner when problems occur in the process needing immediate attention. This includes immediately reporting to Plant Management any near misses, injuries or incidents that may occur.
- Understand computer operations including Excel databases and email.
- Perform minor maintenance troubleshooting.
- Perform all additional, reasonable tasks as assigned.
Essential Functions/Requirements:
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs multiple times every day.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. regularly.
- The job is physical including reaching, standing, walking, lifting, hot/cold environments, dusty environments, etc.
- Responsible for understanding and following all personnel and equipment safety policies, sanitation policies and following all company policies and procedures.
Required Education, Experience, Skills:
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education, Experience, Skills:
- Experience in a production setting.
- Must be able to work additional hours which may include overtime, weekends and holidays.
- Communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work on rotating shifts.
- Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments and dusty environments.
Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
